Enrollment Trends • All-time high: 2825 (1977) • New students • + 18.5% applications • Leads SUNY state ops • 2x average for COT’s • New students about same # • > selectivity 59.6% acceptance rate (68.1% ’07) • Most interest in: LA, Bus. Mgt., Culinary, Hosp. Mgt., Nursing Enrollment increase due to on-line and off-campus programs • Continuing/Returning students • + 7.7% cont/returning

China 150 • SUNY initiative to assist 150 Sichuan earthquake victims • SUNY funded (raised private $) • SUNY Delhi will host 4 (3 in architecture and 1 in Liberal Arts) who will reside at Riverview: • Ms. Yupeng Zheng • Ms. Lihui Jiang • Ms. Jiehao Ma • Mr. Ke Yang • Craig Wesley coordinating, Geoff Moore serving as liaison

  12. 2008-09 Budget • Taken care of Round I cuts ($800k) + enrollment growth + reserves + strategic campus investments last 3 yrs. • Gov.’s recent proposal (add’l 7% ?) impact TBD

  13. 2008-08 Budget Conclusion • Short-term we’ll be ok – “soft freeze”, ability to spend reserves, initiatives to drive additional reductions: • Energy • Printing • Travel • Mailings • Overtime • Long-term we need tuition increase

  14. Campus Information Services • Web migration/redesign • Added smart classrooms • New Banner operating system • New Learning Mgt. System (Moodle) • Redesigned Data Center ($140K under budget) • Single source graphic design • $800k in savings • New e-mail in process • Great year—bright future!

  15. 2008-09 Capital Projects Completed • Paving roads & parking, +63 spots • Smith – new roof, overhead doors, lights, ceiling tiles, Gaetano Lounge • Farnsworth – rehabbed Conference Room • MacDonald – Baking Lab, new cooling tower • Resnick Library – new 3rd fl. ceiling (donated) • Alumni – Gaylord Suite, redecorated dining areas and Board Room, new chairs, AC • Thurston – new boiler • Clark – refinished floor, new logos, lines • Bush – Welcome/Information Desk, Admiss. • Farrell – added 300 add’l.student mailboxes

  18. Facilities - Recycling • Expanded recycling program • Paper in all academic buildings • “Green Team” formed (contact Bonnie) • Recycling web site • Recycling info to each student • Weekly e-mail recycling tips • Added receptacles campus-wide • Comprehensive plan drafted

  19. Facilities Master Plan • Start this academic year • Address capital needs for 10-year period • Totally funded by State University Construction Fund • Set criteria for campus improvements that support academic mission & strategic vision • Many opportunities for your input

Building Emergency Response Teams • Environmental Health & Safety Office initiative • Volunteers sought to: • Assist with building evacuation during drills/emergencies • Assist with maintaining safe conditions within buildings • Serve as liaison between Env. Health & Safety and building occupants • To volunteer, contact Vince Olechnowicz or look for the link on the Facilities Home Page • Reminder: The Emergency Procedures Manual is printed in the back of the Campus Telephone Directory. Please read this information so that you will be familiar with it in the event of an emergency.

College Advancement - Grants $$$ • $243k – Perkins • On-line instruction • Retention • Academic equipment – NRRS, Vet Tech, Construction & Building Trades, Hospitality • $28k from United Way to DC4 • $17k – NYS DEC – to Golf & Plant Sci. to conduct tree planning & planting program for Village of Delhi • $145k NSF proposal developed by faculty team led by Jack Tessier for Delhi Science Curriculum Inquiry Project

College Advancement – Fund Raising • $50k gift to Library – Marilyn & Dick Wickham • $21k anony. donation from alum to James Stewart Scholarship Endowment • Unrestricted giving: $148k ($95k in 2002) • Alumni Phonathon highest ever $105k ($65k in 2002) • Faculty/Staff $37k ($26k in 2002), campaign begins 9/2 • $5k Class Gift for Agora furniture • $20k Gaylord Suite donation Joel

COE Update • Water Lab certified for many tests • Golf course irrigation project - $75k in state funding this year • NYS DEC renewed NY onsite Wastewater Treatment Training Network (OTN) contract. In 07-08 OTN trained > 400 professionals • Four acres of Salix (willow) plantings are under cultivation on Valley Campus • ESF will conduct feasibility study of biomass gasifier at SUNY Delhi

System operational for students this fall

  33. Business & Community Services • Billings at $500k • 3 photovoltaic courses, 64 from 8 states • 2nd Leadership Delaware program – 10 grads • Partnered with BCCC for Basic Manufacturing course • 2-yr. Maint. Tech training for Raymond Corp., Greene • Quilting in the Catskills (1st of 2)

  34. We Need Your Help! • Move-in Day! “I just wanted to write you to let you know that I would love to be a part of the move in crew for 2008. Last year was my first year at SUNY Delhi and like most freshmen, I was so scared to be away from home for the first time. It also didn’t help that I didn’t have my parents there to wish me farewell. However, when I got to Delhi the Move-In Crew were some of the first people I met. They could see how scared I was and I remember one of them telling me that everything was going to be okay and not to worry, that everyone feels this way on the first day. Because of that, I would love to be a part of your team so hopefully I can make a new student feel the same way. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
