THE ACADEMY OF SEMINOLE (TAOS) • August 2018 we opened to grades 9-10 on Seminole State College Campus • August 2019 we opened to grades PreK to 11th grade on a new campus- the Former American Legion Armory. New space accommodates 300 students. • August 2020 full PreK through 12th grade • Early College High School • First Oklahoma member of the Middle School National • In Massachusetts, 74.5% of high school graduates go on to postsecondary education • The transition from high school to college is like a big computer with no operating system, students are lost • Oklahoma on average 63% of students go on to college • In Seminole county that number is 42.4%. • Fundraising locally, nationally, and Federal (over a million dollars in fundraising over the last year

Tremendous Growth for TAOS 2019-2020 • From 30 students our first year to over 450 applicants • 304 spots available and nearly 290 came first day • Working through the remainder of our waitlist and expect to be at capacity • Grew from 5 teachers to 17 teachers • Average of more than 8 years of experience • Applicants come from 21 different zip codes • As far west as Choctaw, north to Sparks, south to Ada and east to Wetumka • Largest areas, Seminole, Shawnee/Bethel, Wewoka, Tecumseh

Tremendous Growth for TAOS 2019-2020 • 14 different after school clubs including Speedfest, Lego Robotics, Student Council, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer • Elective courses include Music/Band, PE, Spanish, Speech, Drama, Leadership, Science Discovery, Ancient Civilization, Career Exploration • After school tutoring available • After care program until 5:30pm

  6. Academic Achievement/Growth Indicator • NWEA MAP • Nationally Normed Test • Assessed over 4.5 million students • 49 foreign countries • 50 states • 3400 districts • Recognized by the OPSRC as one of only three in the state to see this type of growth in both math and reading

  7. Postsecondary Opportunities Indicator • Students participated in ACT Math and English Courses • Regional ACT workshops • 82 percent of our returning Sophomores are enrolled full time at Seminole State College next Fall (14 credit hours) • Average of 20 on ACT for Sophomores • Compared to 18 national average • 17 average in Seminole County • Career/College Exploration- Dream Job, TAOS Talks, Capstone Assignments, Student Led Conferences, Strengthsfinder tests, College visits, internships (e.g., Mechanical Engineer, CEO, Architect, Marine Biologist, Surgeon, Pilot, YouTuber) Goals (e.g., Learn Spanish, get into college, get good grades, perfect attendance, learn to play the guitar)
