  1. Student Objectives Students will determine the meaning of unknown words using context clues. Students will utilize various English ACT strategies to enhance grammar skills. Students will use HOTS such as inferences and generalizations while reading a short story. Students will write for a variety of purposes and audiences using the Standard English conventions of grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

  2. Weekly Agenda Observation of Dr. King: 1/18/10 GAINS Testing 1/20-1/21/10 Quiz: “ Cup of Tea” Build Prior Knowledge Review ACT Strategies Read “The Duchess and the Jeweller”, p. 854

  3. QUIZ “Cup of Tea” Write a well developed, one-page essay that compares/contrast Rosemary to Miss Smith. Use examples from the text to support your paper. Think: Characterization Education Economic Status Your paper must include two Stop/Go sentences.When writing your paper, also consider Go/Short and Look/Left

  6. Bell Ringer • Think about your Quiz. What do you need to introduce so that the focus of your paper is clear? Respond.

  7. Before Reading Quick Write Consider the potential consequences of jealousy in a love relationship. Do you think jealousy is normal in such a relationship? Are there different degrees of this emotion? Note: In your response, one of your sentences must reflect Stop/Go and Go Short. Underline or highlight the sentences.
