  4. Research Without research, it would be nearly impossible to make a decision on what career you would like to do. The best place to research different careers would be the internet. There are endless websites on almost all professions. It can also help you narrow down what things you like or dislike in a career and the steps you need to take to get to your desired position. I am a very hospitable person and I love organizing things. I aspire to be an event planner. Event Planner Self Evaluation Susan Carroll, Last Updated August 14, 2009

  6. Resume A resume is a document that contains a summary or listing or relevant job experience and education. Employers use these as a guide to your previous experience. • What to include in your resume: • What you could bring to the company • Anything that you have done that makes the job suit you • Contact information • References Sample Resume Susan Carroll, Last Updated August 14, 2009

  7. Cover Letter Your cover letter is most likely the first impression an employer will have of you so you want to make sure it is neat and professional. Don’t go into to much detail in your cover letter, that’s what your resume is for. Your cover letter is more a generic statement of your qualifications. Be sure to keep it interesting and proofread it before you turn it in. Sample Cover Letter Susan Carroll, Last Updated August 14, 2009

  8. Reference Sheet The purpose of reference sheets is to have a list of people who can verify and elaborate on your professional experience for a potential employer. Having a reference sheet already on hand will save you time later on. However, before you even think about putting someone down, you need to contact them and ask them if you can use them as a reference. 9. The Interview If the employer liked you resume and heard good things from your references, then they will set up an interview with you. This is the time to show them that you are the perfect person for their job. Women; make sure to be dressed appropriately, don’t wear anything distracting, and just have natural make up Men; be sure to be cleanly shaven, have on nice clothes, and don’t smother yourself in cologne Interview Questions Susan Carroll, Last Updated August 14, 2009

  10. Thank You Letter If you really want a employer to remember your name, you can send them a thank you letter. Thank them for their time and for considering you for the job. This letter will remind them of you, and your name, and will let them now that you are really serious about the job. Thank You Letter Susan Carroll, Last Updated August 14, 2009

  11. Resignation Letter If you want to leave your job on good terms, giving a resignation letter is very classy. It is suggested to give your employer the letter at least 2 weeks before your last day of work for them so that they have as much time as possible to fill the position. Be sure to keep the letter to the point and include why you are leaving your current job. Sample Resignation Letter Susan Carroll, Last Updated August 14, 2009
