  2. Introduction • While taking the class of BCIS a student will learn the skill sets to operate programs such as, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Students will also learn how a computer operates as well as how they should operate in the Employment process through the following categories. • Self Evaluation • Job Applications • Resumes • Cover letters • Reference Sheets • Interviews • Thank you letters • Letters of Resignation Tyler Redlich

  3. Biography • My name is Tyler Redlich, I am a Sophomore at Allen High School. I participate in many activities outside of school such as Wrestling and Church Youth Groups. Being 16 I also enjoy my free time in which I mostly spend wit h my friends. If anyone needs to contact me they know I have my cell phone on me at all times.(214-504-8085) Tyler Redlich

  4. Self Evaluation • Choosing a career is a choice that requires much thought and interest. From taking a Self Evaluation on Nextsteps.org I have found that I would be good in counseling this was a good career for me, because I enjoy helping others and giving people advice to their problems.   5. Job Applications • To get a job you will first need to fill out a Job Application. A job application helps the employer see who you are and some of your personal interests. Filling out an Application can take some time but following simple steps can keep you sincere and honest. • Example Job Application Tyler Redlich

  6. Resumes • A Resume may be a persons key to securing his/ her job. Resumes are an easy way to display a persons ideas or personality to see if they fit the job type they are applying for. They also are good for getting the employer interested in an applicant. Example Resume Tyler Redlich

  7. Cover Letters • A Cover Letter is a way to show personality in your resume. Cover Letters should show why you are the person that should be hired for the job. Successful Cover Letters should contain things like accomplished goals, future ideas or personal accomplishments. Cover Letter Tyler Redlich

  8. Reference Sheets • A reference sheet is a list of people to contact so the employer can ask about your reliability, strengths and weaknesses. You can usually place three types of References. • Work, Academic, and Personal • Example Reference Sheet Reference Tyler Redlich

  9. Interviews • Interviews can be the most important, but the most difficult of the application processes. In an interview you are simply reviewed and asked questions by an employer in which you will answer on the spot. It is very important to look and act professional during an interview. • Look of Success • Business Suit / buttoned shirt • ironed pants/ skirt • Clean cut hair • Fresh shave • White teeth Example Interview Tyler Redlich

  10. Thank You Letter • A Thank you letter is written after the interview to show your thanks and appreciation to the employer for their time. • A Thank you letter should also include your Appreciation for the job. • Example Thank You Letter Tyler Redlich

  11. Letter of Resignation • As someone resigns from a job they are often asked to make a Letter of Resignation. • As you write you need to remember to be professional, sincere, polite, and brief Letter of Resignation Tyler Redlich
