Home Introduction Intro Biography • Business Computer Information Science (BCIS) is a program that teaches students about the computer, its parts and functions, and how to use certain programs within the computer such as Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook. • The BCIS course also includes lessons and examples explaining the employment process including how to research, create a job application, resume, cover letter, reference sheet, interview, a thank you letter, and a resignation letter.   4. Home Research Intro Biography Research • When deciding anything in life, research is required to find the best possible decision. The same applies for looking for a career. Education, salary, hours of work, and other factors need to be researched to find the best possible career to suite you and your needs. • By taking self evaluation tests, you are able to figure out what you like and what your strengths are. When I took the self evaluation test I found that I like to work with other, cooking, and enjoy being either inside or outside. The first two occupations that came up in the results were Assistant Hotel Manager and Chef. I plan on going towards the chef because I love to cook. Home Cover Letter Intro Biography • A cover letter is a description of what you can bring to the company as an employee and to give reasons why you should be hired for the desired position. • There should be a reason for writing the letter, what qualifies you for the position, and include a resume. • In a cover letter there needs to be a heading with the date and address of applicant, followed by information of the employer (name, location, contact information), and after your description for being hired, a salutation and a link to open your resume. Interview Home • Interviews are a very important step in the employment process because your first impression is judged by the employer and he/she judges if you are the right applicant for the job. • The questions during the interview will vary from what your reaction would be to a certain situation during work to questions not relating to the job at all. If you show up in shorts and a T-shirt, he/she will not take you seriously and will assume you think the interview is a joke. • Men should be clean shaven and in suiting clothing. • Women should wear suiting also, light perfume, nothing revealing, and minimal make up.   10. Home Thank you letter Intro Biography • A thank you letter is a letter thanking the employer for considering you for the job and for giving you time for an interview. By giving a thank you letter, you are showing you do care about getting the job and that you are serious about it. You should thank the employer for taking time to give you an interview and add additional thanks for any advice given during the interview.
