  3. Wealth: a lousy goal to pursue • Unreliable (Mt 6:19) Proverbs 23:4-5 Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, Cease from your consideration of it. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.

  10. Wealth: a great tool to use • To worship God (Mt 6:21) “for where your treasure is, there your heart (affections, desires) will be also.”

  11. Wealth: a great tool to use • To worship God (Mt 6:21) 2 Samuel 24:22-24 Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up what is good in his sight. Look, the oxen for the burnt offering, the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood. Everything, O king, Araunah gives to the king…” However, the king said to Araunah, “No, but I will surely buy it from you for a price, for I will not offer burnt offerings to the Lord my God which cost me nothing.”

  18. Practical Steps • Read Randy Alcorn’s “The Treasure Principle” • Start small (it’s about sacrifice, not amount) • Give first (not leftovers) • Give consistently (include in worship) • Give joyfully (not an obligation, a privilege!)
