  3. V30, Jesus said, “What shall we say about the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallestseed you plant in the ground.

  4. The kingdom of Christ had a small beginning with only 12 disciples.

  5. V32, Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds of the air can perch in its shade. • What do the birds stand for?

  6. Dan 4:22-24, (Daniel) Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, … the tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth, with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all,

  7. and having nesting places in its branches for the birds of the air – you, O king are that tree! Your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.

  8. The tree in this context refers to the king and kingdom of Babylon. • The birds in this text refer to the nations or ethnic groups.

  9. Christ was saying with the parable of the mustard tree that though his kingdom started small in Jerusalem it will expand to the end of the earth and he will provide food for all the nations.

  11. The small boy was willing to share his five small loaves and two small fish but they were obviously not enough to feed thousands of people. • But Christ took the small loaves gave thanks and fed five thousands men - besides women and children.

  12. Acts 2:44-46, All the believer were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.

  13. These believers had everything in common which means they opened their homes (there was no church building) and shared their food.

  14. The Bible said Christ though he was rich yet for your sakes he became poor; He shares everything he has with you so that you have all his riches and righteousness. If Christ is in you, open your home, and share your food with one another in this church.
