  2. Cause • Viral infections can trigger diabetes • Pancreas damage by white blood cells. • Beta cells are killed by white blood cells. • Diabetes genetic can be passed down Type 1

  3. Symptoms • Fatigued • Nausea • Fever • Extreme thirst • Extreme hunger Type 1

  4. Short and long term effects • Blindness • Cloudy thinking • Kidney failure • More prone to get sick • Oral issues Type 1

  5. Treatments • Organ transplants • Daily injections of insulin • Watch what you eat • Cell transplants • Prevention • Type 1 diabetes can not be prevented Type 1

  6. Causes • Obesity is the number 1 cause • Usually diagnosed as an adult. But children can be diagnosed too. • Insulin can not be attracted to the cells that need it • Insulin receptor site does not work because of over stimulation. • Poor diet. Type 2

  7. Symptoms • Pretty much same as type 1. • Sometimes there are no symptoms for type 2. Type 2

  8. Short and Long term effects • They are the same as type 1. Type 2

  9. Treatments • Life style change • Excersise • Diet properly • You do not need a insulin pump • Take other types of drugs. Type 2

  10. Prevention • Healthy diet • Watch your diet Type 2
