  3. Who Benefits from Mentoring? Benefits to Students • having an additional, caring adult in their lives. • students have a chance to explore interests, practice relationship skills, gain greater self-confidence • and simply experience the undivided attention of a caring adult Benefits to Mentors • The satisfaction of being an important presence in a child's life is a significant reward. • Working with a young person is a creative process, and a fun one.

Expectations – Strickland Middle School • 30 minutes • Lunch Periods • 6th grade @ 10:43-11:13 • 7th grade @ 11:31-12:01 • 8th grade @ 12:19-12:49 • Background Check • Always sign in as a volunteer in the main office • Contact is limited to school hours or school activities • Please dress appropriately! • Field Trip November 11th!

  6. Meeting with your student • ASK QUESTIONS…..to get to know them! • LISTEN • Encourage them in their education! Talk about college! • Contact with your student should only be during school hours • No social media, texting, etc. Maintain good boundaries -- Be professional! • HAVE FUN!

  7. Meeting with your student • Please don’t bring lunch for the entire lunch table – only your student. • Call before you come • 940-369-4200

  8. Mentees • Students in need of social or academic improvement • Let me know if there is ever a problem with the student you are matched with

  9. REPORTING! • Suspicion of abuse or neglect • Harm to self or others • Illegal activity • Please report to me! • 940-369-4292
