Smart Grid has many moving parts, but the applications that impact or take advantage of ZigBee and 802.15 efforts are: Demand Response & Consumer Interaction Revenue Metering (aids AMI/AMR solutions) ZigBee Smart Energy Profile (SEP) V1.0 has support for these today!
