Join us for ECS 311, starting January 8th, where I will share my 30 years of educational experience, including teaching and administration. You can expect a thorough and engaging course as we prepare you for internships and the teaching profession. I am approachable and dedicated to supporting your learning journey, and we will explore various assignments, discussions, and portfolio expectations. Let’s collaborate, reflect, and celebrate our learning together, with the goal of becoming exceptional educators.

Collaborative Outline • 3 instructors collaborated for similar expectations • Differences will be a part of each course and what we each can offer • Pass / Fail Course is consistent in all ECS 311 classes – all assignments are things you would naturally prepare for teaching

Expectations • Professionalism – expected here and in schools • Participate in discussions, contribute class – we all learn from each other • Attendance is mandatory • Cooperator teacher report must indicate you’ve passed the field to pass this class
Feedback and Meeting Expectations • Unsatisfactory - means the assignment needs improvement and must be redone or improved to reach an acceptable standard. • Fair - means this is a passing grade but there are some significant areas that should be addressed. Students have the option to resubmit and improve. • Good - means you have met expectations. There may be a balance of areas that could still be improved and areas that are done well. • Great - means you have met expectations and have shown some exceptional work in certain areas. • Outstanding – means you have exceeded expectations and have shown consistent, exceptional work.
Assignment #1 PORTFOLIOand MINI UNIT • To continue to reflect an holistic and complex understanding of our lives as teachers. • Your teaching portfolio is a space to continue to build and share your insights in relation to each commonplace and their interactions. • Include mini unit, class assignments/responses, reflections • You will hand in your portfolio on Thursday, February 28th with your unit plan.
Assignment 2 – Choice Assignment • Create an assignment of your own in negotiation with me orchoose an assignment from the “menu” provided. • Choose something you will use. You may want to talk with your Co-op to use this in your three week block. • Celebration of Learning: January 29th • Share ideas and give peer feedback, as well as mine
Assignment 3 – Reflections2-3 pagesDue: April 2nd • Your final reflections will include: • what you have learned about your learners, your teaching, your curriculum planning and the context in which you were teaching in your 3 week teaching block. • You will also need to include your PDP (Professional Development Plan) for your internship which will emerge from the feedback you received from your PDP for this 3 week teaching block.
