Incurably Informed…. • So wearables are become ubiquitous • Unsurprisingly, since they came out of research in ubiquitous computing • However, we still aint sorted reliability • Nor do privacy concerns help • Or rather, we need to respect privacy • So what’s the data science problem?
We don’t know what we don’t know • Both data and meta-data • We have fitbits, smart watches, phones • Even cycling jackets that speak to our phone • https://www.visijax.com/products/led-jackets-and-gilets/ • Hearing aids • But people wash them and they stop working • Or they cycle out of reach of the cell tower • And people have personal quirks • About privacy – • taking device off or swapping • Or who they let see what when • Need empirical study.. … …
Two other things • ATI already useful • Maria Wolters, Informatics & Psychology Edinburgh, works on similar problems • Efi Tsamoura&Boris Motik, Oxford CS, looking at Distributed Chase Algo (dbases) • Systems Workshop 2.0 – Aug 3&4 here • Docker/Dbase/Data Center etc • http://coseners.net/msn2016/ • dagstuhl seminar next week on low latency • http://www.dagstuhl.de/de/programm/kalender/semhp/?semnr=16281
