  1. Basic Ecology By: Wade Stafford, Ethan Daer, Sammy Romero

  2. What is Ecology? • Ecology is the scientific study of interactions of organisms with one another and with the physical and chemical environment.

  3. Habitats in Ecology • Habitats are were organism interact with one another. • You can see the predator interacting with the prey

  4. Niches in Ecology • Niches are were animals compete in their environment • You can see the fish in its niche in the ocean

  5. Predators and Prey Predators and prey is one way organism interact with one another. One hunts the other for food to survive, while the other runs.

  6. Mutualism Commensalism Parasitism

  7. The anemone uses mutualism by getting extra food from the clown. Clown fish interacts through mutualism with the anemone. It hides in with the anemone to hide from prey.

  8. The cattle and egret use commensalism because the cattle stir up insects, and the egrets eat them. This is one way animals interact in ecology.

  9. Parasitism work with this animal by having the insect suck blood from humans, helping them and hurting the human. This may not be the best way in ecology, but it is one way animals interact.

  10. Competition in Ecology Competition in ecology is one way animals interact with each other. The animals fight for resources needed for survival with each other.

  11. Carrying Capacity in Ecology The carrying capacity is the maximum amount of animals in a species. This affects the competition between species because there are more organism to compete for the same resources.

  12. Symbiosis in Ecology Symbiosis is the living together of dissimilar organisms. This is one of the types of interactions with the physical environment.

  13. Succession is the coming of one species after another. The species take up the same space in the environment after the other one dies. Succession

  14. Community Community is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific locality. The animals interact with physical and chemical environment.

  15. Pioneer Species A pioneer species is a hardy species that first colonize previously disrupted or damaged ecosystem, which eventually leads to a better stabilized ecosystem.

  16. The End
