  3. Developed by EFNEP Staff from Colorado State University University of California at Davis

  4. Updated research-based health and nutrition information Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005 MyPyramid Missouri is using the newest physical activity guidelines.

  5. Features of the new curriculum: • Hands-on activities • Participants actively engaged in learning • All participant materials are at an appropriate reading level. • Based on proven adult learning theories.

  6. Plan healthy meals and snacks for their families • Keep food safe to eat • Save money • Make healthy choices when shopping • Be physically active When participants complete the 8 lessons, they are better able to: 6

  7. The Lessons: • Get Moving! • Plan, Shop, $ave • Vary Your Veggies…Focus on Fruit • Make Half Your Grains Whole • Build Strong Bones • Go Lean With Protein • Make a Change • Celebrate! Eat Smart & Be Active

  8. Each lesson contains: • Physical activity • Food activity and tasting • Tips for food safety, saving money, and parenting related to the topic of the lesson. 8

  9. Curriculum materials include: All participant materials are available in English and Spanish • Visuals • Worksheets • Handouts • Enhancement items • Graduation certificates 9
