  2. LA Conservation Corps Our primary mission is to provide at-risk young adults and school-aged youth with opportunities for success through job skills training, education and work experience with an emphasis on conservation and service projects that benefit the community.

  3. What We Do • WASC accredited High School Diplomas • Job Training in Construction & Environmental Careers • Support services and counseling • Employment and Post-Secondary Transition services

  4. YouthBuild Program Year 1 Outcomes • 34 YB Corpsmembers Enrolled in Construction & Environmental Career Pathway Training • 12 YB Corpsmembers Graduated with HS Diploma in June 2013 • 1 YB Corpsmember enrolled at Cal State LA • 4 YB Corpsmembers Enrolled in Community College, Fall 2013 • 16 YB Corpsmembers passed Work Readiness

Postsecondary Education PartnershipsLA Trade Technical College • Formalized through an MOU • Sustained through information sharing, presence on-campus and at LA Conservation Corps School site • Allows for shared opportunities for funding through federal, state, local and foundation grants • Supports the mission of the CBO and the College • Supports the youth of Los Angeles

Key Factors to Success • Adjunct faculty status for CBO staff • On-campus access to space • LATTC Bridges to Success office and staff • Mutual opportunities to inform programming • LATTC access to under-served students • LACC access to local industries and employers • Shared mission of serving the youth of Los Angeles

Proof of Success • 750 Corpsmembers have completed non-credit coursework through LATTC • 13/16 (81%) Corpsmembers enrolled in a closed 2013 Winter Term Speech 101 course completed with an average grade of B (3.0) • Of the 26 Post-Secondary Success Initiative participants starting at LATTC in 10/11 or 11/12, 17 (65%) are still active on-campus, have transferred to another campus, or have completed a credential

Employer & Industry PartnershipsStarbucks • Commitment from Downtown Area Manager to Work with Young Adults in LA Conservation Corps • Store Managers volunteer for Mock Interview Certification Day 3 times a year • Participate in Collaborative Job Fair and history of hiring qualified corpsmembers • Great part time job opportunity for Youth interested in Post Secondary Education Pathway
