  2. The main idea of the unit • The unit talks about housework. Women are supposed to do housework. They are responsible for : washing clothes, washing the dishes, vacuuming the rugs or carpets, mopping the floors, polishing and dusting the furniture, scrubbing the tub, wiping the stains from walls and doors…..etc. • Housework is described as chores. All the members of a family should have equal shares in doing the housework.

Vocabulary • Wash (v) : wash clothes or dishes • Scrub (v): scrub the tub / sink / a pot / a skillet • Wax (v) : wax the furniture • Wipe (v) : wipe the table / the stains on the floor • Mop (v) : mop the floor • Polish (v) : polish a silver cup • Dust (v): dust the furniture • Vacuum (v) : vacuum the rugs / carpets • Do the laundry (v) : wash the clothes • Take out (v): take out the garbage

More vocabulary • Bleach (v) : make something whiter and cleaner • Actress (n) : the woman who has a role in an advertisement or a movie • Urgent (adj) : important • Happen to (v): exist / take place • Cleanser (n): a substance used in cleaning • Wink (v): to close one eye briefly • Mention (v): say • Shine (v) : to make something bright by rubbing it

Poetry • It is a piece of writing in which the words are arranged in separate lines, often ending in rhyme, and are chosen for their sound and for the images and ideas they suggest. • Poems often use words that rhyme with each other . Usually, the words that rhyme are at the end of different lines, but sometimes they are in the same line. Two words rhyme if their endings sound the same. What this life if full of care We have no time to stand and stare

  6. Differences between rhyme and rhythm • Rhyme : Words which rhyme have the same last sound: 'Blue' and 'flew' rhyme. • Rhythm : a strong pattern of sounds, words or musical notes which is used in music, poetry and dancing:

Grammar Adverbs and Expressions of Frequency • Adverbs and expressions of frequency describe how often someone does something. • The verbs used with adverbs and expressions of frequency are usually in the simple present tense. • Adverbs of frequency are like : always , usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never….. I usually listen to the news in the evening. I am always ready to travel on weekends. She often talks to her friend on the phone.

More about adverbs and expressions of frequency • Expressions of frequency are like: everyday, once a week, twice a month… Everyday I have breakfast at 7 a.m. I have breakfast at 7 a.m. everyday. Once a week, I visit my aunt. I visit my aunt once a week. • When we ask about adverbs and expressions of frequency, we use “How often” . • I always finish my work before leaving my office. • How often do you finish your work before leaving your office?
