  1. #26 Ordered Pairs

  2. Vocabulary Cities, towns, and neighborhoods are often laid out on a grid. This makes it easier to map and find locations. A coordinate grid is formed by horizontal and vertical lines and is used to locate points. • Each point on a coordinate grid can be located by using an ordered pair of numbers, such as (4, 6). The starting point is (0, 0). • The first number tells how far to move horizontally from (0, 0). • The second number tells how far to move vertically.

  3. Example 1: Identifying Ordered Pairs Name the ordered pair for the location. Gym

  4. Example 2: Identifying Ordered Pairs Name the ordered pair for the location. Theater

  5. Example 3: Identifying Ordered Pairs Name the ordered pair for the location. Park

  6. Example 4 Name the ordered pair for each location. Diner

  7. Example 5 Name the ordered pair for each location. Pool

  8. Example 6: Graphing Ordered Pairs Graph and label each point on a coordinate grid. A. L (3, 5) 6 5 4 3 2 B. M (4, 0) 1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6

  9. Example 7 Graph and label each point on a coordinate grid. A. T (2, 6) 6 5 4 3 2 B. V (5, 0) 1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6
