The majority of children injured or killed in pupil transportation accidents occur outside school buses, often struck by motorists who ignore flashing red lights and stop signs. This area, known as the "Death Zone," poses significant risks during loading and unloading times. Alabama's School Bus Stop Law, effective October 1, 2006, mandates that vehicles must stop when a school bus is loading or unloading children. Additionally, special licensing requirements for driving church or school buses help ensure safety. Stay informed to protect our children.
