7. film version CAST OF CHARACTERS Ariana Osgood BRITTANY SNOW Brittany Snow would make the perfect actresses for the part of Ariana Osgood because she fits the physical aspects of what we were given in the book with the blond hair and the icy blue eyes, she also has a petite figure. Brittany has played in many movies and she is very versatile so I think she would do great at the role of someone who plays the nice type but at the same time is the sneaky, vulnerable character that Ariana is.

CAST OF CHARACTERS film version Kaitlynn Nottingham JESSICA STROUP I have chosen Jessica Stroup to play the role of Kaitlynn Nottingham because once again she fits the physical description which the book gave us, with the brown hair and light blue eyes. She would make an excellent Kaitlynn due to the fact that while on the series 90210 she plays a character who is full of surprises, and that is exactly the role of Kaitlynn. Throughout the whole book we think that she is the one who is serving Briana Leigh’s time for killing her very own Father, but surprisingly she has played the role of innocence and actually killed Briana Leigh’s father.

CAST OF CHARACTERS film version Briana Leigh Covington SHENAE GRIMES Shenae Grimes would be my choice for the role of Briana Leigh because she has played the mean, popular, snotty type role and excelled along with the sweet and innocent role, which are 2 of the characteristics that the role Briana Leigh had in the book. Shenae also fits the description of Briana Leigh with long auburn hair.

10. CAST OF CHARACTERS film version Dr. Victor Meloni JOHN CUSACK Although not much of a physical description is given of Dr. Meloni I seem to picture an actor such a John Cusack to play the role of the therapist in the Brenda T. He is just such a versatile actor.

11. CAST OF CHARACTERS film version Grandma Covington Betty White I chose Betty White to play the role of Grandma C. because she is a really good actress. Not much is given as a physical aspect of Grandma C. but Betty White is a very good actress and has lots of experience acting, playing many different roles. Betty is the actress that come to my mind when I think of an elderly Grandma acting.

16. PLOT CLIMAX The climax of this novel begins at the very first of the novel when Ariana escapes from the Brenda T. The night that Ariana escapes from the facility is the night of July 4th during the firework show. She has had this ongoing plan of escapes for quite some time because she ordered roast beef on her sandwich even though she knew she wasn’t going to eat it she threw it to Rambo so that he would dig her a whole to escape. She also knew that each year they have a firework show, which would be the perfect time because it would be so loud and no one would be paying attention to her because the fire works would distract them. That night Ariana had to act quick and tell no one, not even Kaitlynn her plan. She made her way over to the south side of the yard to the bush where she had been throwing her roast beef and jumped in it just as a huge firework went off. She had to pull her way through the hole, thinking that Rambo had dug her a bigger one, Ariana had cut herself on the way out of the hole. After she had finally escaped the facility she had went over to the lake near the facility and broke into a cabin stealing a few new clothes, soap and shoes. Just as she was about to leave the people came back to there cabin so Ariana had to run for her life so that she wouldn’t get caught. She then used the money which she had saved up from selling the magazines to the other inmates to buy hair dye and a ticket to Dallas so that she could meet Briana Leigh Covington.

17. IF SOMETHING DIFFERENT HAPPENED.. If Ariana's escape didn’t work out then she wouldn’t have went to Dallas and met Briana Leigh Covington. If she hadn’t met Briana Leigh then she would have never drowned her in Lake Page, where she had supposedly drowned or stole her identity. All this leading up to Ariana taking Briana Leigh’s spot at Atherton-Pryce Hall. If the climax didn’t happen then it would have saved a lot of lives and Ariana would still be serving time for the murder that she committed and wouldn’t be living the privileged lifestyle that she stole.

18. NEWS REPORT • This is Megan Eccleston reporting live from Lake Page right outside of the Brenda T. Trumbull Correctional Facility for Women. There are the foot prints of Ariana Osgood leading from the facility to the end of the dock. They discovered that Ariana was missing the night of July 4th right after the annual firework show for Independence Day. I have been told Ariana Osgood has recently tried to commit suicide inside the facility that her therapist Dr. Victor Meloni told her to try harder when her overdose of pills didn’t work The lead right now is that Ariana escaped the prison and has drowned herself in Lake Page. • I will be giving recent updates on this nation wide news story until they have found the body of Ariana Osgood.

19. CONFLICT • The main conflict in the novel Privilege is Man vs. Society. This is because Ariana has escaped the Brenda T., became Emma Walsh and has killed Briana Leigh and stolen her identity. She will constantly be fighting and dealing with society not only now but her entire life. She begins to deal with the problems by sending a break up text to Briana Leigh’s fiancé Téo, writing to Grandma C. telling her that she is travelling with Téo and Emma all summer and that she will just return to Atherton Pyrce Hall in the fall. She does write to Grandma C. frequently to get money and to make it seem that she is Briana Leigh. One of the struggles that Ariana has to is be careful who she trusts, and who she becomes friends with. She also has to realize she will never be Ariana Osgood ever again. This could have been handled different if she did the mature thing and did her time in the correctional and behaved properly so that she was out in 25 years.

20. THEME • I think that Kate Brian did an excellent job at picking the title Privilege for this novel because it not only appropriate for this novel but also understandable because the main character Ariana Osgood gets a second chance at life with a privileged lifestyle because she escaped the Brenda T. and can return back to the life she wants just not as Ariana Osgood. The downside of it is that she has to live with a lot of circumstances, one is that, she will never get to see her family ever again.
