World War 1 • Started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was assassinated • Started on June 28, 1914 to November 11, 191 • Treaties of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919 • Each nation’s allies became involved • France, Russia, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, Serbia, and later the United States made up the Allies • Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman empire, and Germany made up Central powers

  3. World War 1 • 9 million killed and 21 million wounded • Trench warfare • Introduction of modern weaponry • Tanks • Chemical weapons • Machine guns

  6. Lasting Effects on Today • Growth/development- economic boom • Relationships with nations • Political change- war supplies • Lead to WWII • Boeing (1916)
