  3. International BaccalaureateDiplomaProgramme 2,292 schools in 141 countries are currently authorized to teach the Diploma Programme.(www.ibo.org)
  4. What does the Diploma Programme curriculum contain? Students study: Three subjects at higher level (240 hours each). Three subjects at standard level(150 hours each).
  5. Subjects Group 1 - 46 languages are now available. Swedish, English, Self taught Group 2 – 25 or more modern and classical languages, for abilities from complete beginner -ab initio to some experience -language B. French B, Swedish B, English B, Spanish ab initio
  6. Subjects Group 3 - business and management, economics, geography, history, information technology in a global society, philosophy, psychology, social and cultural anthropology, environmental systems & societies. Group 4 - biology, chemistry, design technology, environmental systems & societies, physics. Group 5 - mathematical studies standard level, mathematics standard level, mathematics higher level, further mathematics, computer science. Group 6 - music, theatre, visual arts, film. Most, but not all subjects are available at both higherand standard levels.
  7. Extended Essay The students start in the end of DP1, deadline is around November in DP2. 4,000 words Offers the opportunity to investigate a research question of individual interest Make the student use to independent research and writing skills expected at university
  8. CAS Creativity, action and service (CAS): Encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and community service Education outside the classroom Development of the learner profile Each student has his/her own CAS-advisor
  9. TOK Theory of knowledge: You can use TOK in all your subjects Explores the nature of knowledge across disciplines Generally, lessons once a week You have to write an essay and make an oral presentation
  10. IB assessment Diploma Programme assessment includes both final examinations and internal assessment undertaken by the teacher to IB criteria and then externally moderated by the IB. All examiners are ‘quality checked’ through a process of moderation. The IB undertakes random inspections of schools during exams. Results are published on around July 5th for May Exam
  11. IB assessment The diploma is graded up to 45 points Marks awarded for each course range from 1 (lowest) to 7 (highest). 0-3 point for Extended Essay and TOK Diploma is awarded to students who gain at least 24 points. The overall diploma pass rate is generally stable every year Diploma Programme assessment – principles and practice – available on www.ibo.org
  12. How well is the diploma recognized by universities? The IB works closely with universities in all regions of the world to gain recognition for the IB diploma: Direct online access for university admissions officers to syllabuses and recent examination papers Recognition in over 100 countries (www.ibo.org) Recognition by over 2,000 universities (www.ibo.org) Some universities offer scholarships and advanced placement for IB students Some US-universities give credits for IB students, 4 years will be 3,5 years..! http://www.ibo.org/recognition/universitytestimonials/- Film clip
