  3. What is IB? • IB began in 1968 in Europe and is now the “Gold Standard” of Education • Moved into North America in 1979 • Now in over 141 Countries with over 1,000,000 students

  4. IB Mission Statement • The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. • To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. • These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

  16. How Do I Apply?

  17. Students Applying From Outside of Daphne High Feeder Pattern • Students who transfer to an IB school from a school that ends at 8th grade are automatically eligible for athletics. • Students who transfer to an IB school from a high school must sit out a year. • Students who drop out of an IB school will not have to sit out a year when returning to the home school.

  18. Transportation • Baldwin County is providing a BRATS bus for IB students that live outside of the Daphne feeder pattern. The bus makes stops from Bay Minette to Spanish Fort. It gets the students to school by 7:30 am and returns them home.

  19. Cost of the Program No extra costs in the 9th and 10th grades There is a $1000 charge that is split between the junior and senior years – This pays for cost of the tests and postage
