  2. Inflammation is of two types: 1- acute : sudden onset 2- chronic : gradually 3-sub-acute: something between the acute and chronic.

  3. Aim of inflammation: • 1- remove and destroy the irritant. • 2- prevent further spreading of the irritant. This irritant may be: 1- living : bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi. 2- non-living: mechanical: shock, accident Chemical, immunological.

  4. 1- chronic inflammatory cells

  5. 2- chronic inflammatory cells

  6. 3- chronic inflammatory cells:

  7. 4- Giant cell ( langerhan’s) specific :

  8. 5- Giant cell (foreign body) non-specific:

  9. 6- foreign body:

  10. 7- Acute inflammatory cells:

  11. Mechanism of inflammation: • 1- Vascular changes • 2- Leukocytes “cellular” events • 3- Chemical mediators of inflammation

  12. 8- Margination of WBC’s:

  13. 9- Immigration of WBC’s
