  2. Sources of Maryland Information • Code/Session Laws • Michie’s Legal Resources (access via the Maryland Research Page) – this is a free access point to the code. There are no annotations • Lexis – Current code is available through the Maryland Library (CODE file). Contains annotations and other editorial help. Search older codes in Maryland>Find Statutes, Regulations, Administrative Materials & Court Rules>By Statutes & Regulations>Legislative Archives from 1991- • Westlaw – MD-ST-ANN is the database for current information. The MD-STANN## contains statutes for the years 2000-2008 • Session Laws – The Maryland Archives Online provides access to the Laws of Maryland from 1634/5 to the present

  4. Sources of Maryland Regulations Maryland Specialty Research Page – use the TMLL web page for free access to COMAR and the Maryland Register (last 6 issues). LEXIS – contains files of COMAR and the Maryland Register. Follow this search path: MD>find Statutes, Regulations, Administrative Materials & Courts Rules> Md-Code of Maryland Regulations and Maryland Register WESTLAW – the MD-ADC database contains documents from COMAR and it is updated with information from the Maryland Register.

  7. Maryland Cases Maryland Judiciary Home Page – free access to Maryland appellate level decisions from 1995 to date. District & County Courts Case Search – access via the Maryland Judiciary Home Page. LEXIS – the Maryland State Cases Combined file in the Maryland library contains reports of cases from the Court of Appeals, Court of Special Appeals, Circuit Courts (2003-date), and the Tax Court (1979-date) – subscription based WESTLAW – the database MD-CS includes Tax Court material from 1960. The MD-TRIALORDERS database contains select civil trial orders from 2001 – date. Subscription based.

County/City: Where do I start? • Maryland has 23 counties and 1 independent city (Baltimore City) – and all have some form of legislative compilation – Code, Public Local Laws or a Charter. • To start your research: • Use collections such as the Maryland Research Page, the County Checklist,, or the Summer Strategies Research Guide to find links to codes and other pertinent information. • Access the TMLL web page and search the catalog for county codes in paper. • Ask a librarian for help. • Non-Maryland county/city research – do a Google search.
