One Teach, One Observe When would the detailed observation of students engaged in learning be beneficial? LOOK FOR: The steps involved in the application of this process.
One Teach, One Observe One teacher has primary instructional responsibility while the other gathers specific observational information on students or the (instructing) teacher. Key to this strategy: Focus the observation. Have specific behaviors you are observing.
One Teach, One Observe • Before: In this video clip, Mrs. Bavonese and Mrs. Clonts demonstrate how to use the one teach, one observe strategy to develop observation points during a lesson on comprehension for curriculum and instruction majors at Jacksonville State University. It is important in this strategy to develop well-defined actions to be observed. There should be no more than 2 items for which observations are being made. • After: Mrs. Bavonese and Mrs. Clonts discuss what Mrs. Clonts observed during the lesson. This should occur immediately following the lesson or as soon as possible after the lesson to be the most effective. • One Teach, One Observe video
