Ephesians 5:22-23. “He is the Savior of - the Body”. Jesus spoke of His church . Jesus promised Peter "I will build My church” (Matthew 16:18) He promised that not even the "gates of Hades” shall prevail against it! Yet people today criticize “the church”.

  2. Jesus spoke of His church... • Jesus promised Peter "I will build My church” (Matthew 16:18) • He promised that not even the "gates of Hades” shall prevail against it! • Yet people today criticize “the church”.

Jesus spoke of His church... • The low estimation that people seem to have of the church may be due to any # of reasons... • A lack of understanding of what the church really is- as taught in the Bible • A misunderstanding of the church that has been fostered by incorrect teaching on the matter.

  4. With this lesson… • I hope to study what level of valuethat the Lord puts onto the church in which He built. • I hope that we can also increase our appreciation for the Lord's church

What Value has the Lord Placed Upon His Church? • Ephesians 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to behead over all things to the church • Colossians 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. • Colossians 1:24 I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church • Colossians 2:19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.

Many Efforts Have Been Made by Satan to Change “the Church” • Some feel that the church is made up of a particular group of churches • There is no one "official" name for the Lord's church • In the Bible, there are several “authorized” terms used to discuss the Lord’s body… • The Lord's church is a body made of individual members - not individual congregations • We need to be well-informed on the church: its makeup, its function, and purpose.
