  3. President Lincoln’s second inauguration(5) • This was one of the things that angered Booth March 17,1865

  4. General Robert E. Lee and the North Virginia army surrender to the Union. (5) • Another reason Booth was angry April 9, 1865

  5. Booth shoots Lincoln at Fords theater, scrambled to center stage and screamed,“Sic semper tyrannis!” (Thus always to tyrants.) He then shouted “The south is avenged.” • Powell took out his pistol and beat Seward on the head with it in Seward's own room • Booth made his escape to Maryland • News spread quickly and mobs of thousands of people crowed fords theater(42-45) April 14, 1865
