Shot 1 • High angle close up in the first shot- we can assume this is the singer, 'protagonist' • She’s important • Very simple and minimalistic • All white- can connote innocence and purity • Her facial expressions and body language suggest she is confident, looks directly into the camera as if shes addresing the audience
• Shot 2 • The red lipstick, high heels and nice dress connote that she is a person of power. • Also, the red chair suggests that she is elegant. It also contrasts with her white dress but matches her lipstick. • There is a clear color scheme even her nail polish matches. • The strong red connotes strong, powerful and passion. • This is a mid shot as you can see her body and most of the chair.
SHOT 3 • Extreme closeup of her lip singing again connotes her power and importance • Soft lighting, again adds to her innocence and purity • Very simple and cuts adds to the clean feel of the video- again minimalistic • Her makeup and dress makes this video 'girly' • Taking up the whole screen- the audience is focusing on her • Serious facial expression yet confident
SHOT 4 • She is the only person in the video so far showing that she is the singer, and she is the main person of power. • She is in the center of the shot showing that she is relevant and meaningful in the video. • It could seen that she is being sexualized but she seems confident in her body. • Her jewelry makes her seem older and more mature. She wants to present herself as being mature.
Shot 5 • Dance performance • One male and one female dancer-showing a love relationship • Dark red background, shining light bulb around the dancers-different set thanbefore-creates a romantic atmosphere and mood. • All wear white costume-suggest love is pure.
Shot 6 • Costume change-red lipstick and red dress, along with her red nails match with the red background-red is a passionatebold colourwhich could reflect her personality • The changecould suggest that something has happened and she is n longer so 'innocent and pure'- we later in the video see a relationship between the singer and a man • Her body language also tells us she is comfortable in her skin- perching and directly addressing the audience. • The white sofa contrast with the red background and the girl. Which suggest she is powerful, hotand passion. • Sitting shows that she is confident in her body, and her hands with red nail polish relating on her knees make her look feminine.
SHOT 7 • This Is a closeup of her face. Her legs are in the background and are out of focus. • She has a more serious body language in this shot. • There are many of the same shots in this music video. It is very repetitive. Her facial expressions stay the same mainly. • It is quite a repetitive music video. • The red dress and the white sofa contrast each other. Her eyes again are a main focal point of the video.
Shot 8 • The atmosphere changes slightly as a love story between the singer and a new character is introduced • His identity is kept quite 'secretive' from the audience • Lots of high angles but not any shots of their faces • Their movements starts off quite slow and sensual which follow the pace of the song- could relate to Andrew Goodwin's theory • Fast pace movements and quicker cuts as the song speeds up • Still very serious facial expressions can suggest that their relationship is serious • This changes the video up, makes it not so repetitive
SHOT 9 • These are the dancers. They have had some tension throughout the video. • The red in the background connotes sexual tension, passion and love. • This is oblivious in this seen. Their faces are mainly hidden through out the video. • There has been sexual tension through out the video. • This is a mid shot of their side profiles as you can see part of their shoulders. • The light bulb in the back could suggest that there is electricity between the two dancer.
