  1. 2005 Ballot Process Each AASHTO fiscal year, the Trns•port Task Force (TTF) reviews and makes decisions related to enhancements and new development requests for Trns•port.

  2. 2005 Ballot Process User input on the value and benefits of requested enhancements contributes to the TTF decision process.

  3. 2005 Ballot Process This user input is facilitated through a ballot process conducted each fiscal year as defined and administered by the Trns•port User’s Group (TUG).  

  4. 2005 Ballot Process The purpose of the ballot process is to ensure that end users have a voice in the on-going and strategic direction of the Trns•port product.

  5. 2005 Ballot Process Through an Automated Ballot System (ABS) on Cloverleaf, each member agency is given the opportunity to vote for improvements the agency regards as most important.

  6. 2005 Ballot Process The results of the voting are forwarded to the TUG Chairperson for review, then to the TTF to be considered for inclusion in the AASTHO Trns•port Long Range Work Plan (LRWP).

  7. 2005 Ballot Process As the enhancements are submitted throughout the year, the TMR tracking system that supports the ABS is regularly updated to reflect the most current status of each request.

  8. 2005 Ballot Process During the fiscal year users, Technical Advisory Groups (TAGs) and Info Tech product experts review and comment on requested enhancements prior to the official ballot process.

  9. 2005 Ballot Process The current year’s ballot is a combination of newly reported enhancement items and the open ballot items from the previous year.

  10. 2005 Ballot Process This information is available throughout the year in theTrns•port Pre-Ballot on Cloverleaf. The pre-ballot is a replica of the ‘live’ ballot, without the functionality to cast a vote.

  11. 2005 Ballot Process The “live” ballot is activated once a year, immediately following the TUG conference.

  12. 2005 Ballot Process Each agency assigns one person to represent the agency during the TUG conference and the voting process.

  14. 2005 Ballot Process REMEMBER - The purpose of the ballot process is to ensure that end users have a voice in the on-going and strategic direction of the Trns•port product.

  15. 2005 Ballot Process With the rewrite of the current Trns•port product to Next Generation Trns•port (NGT), some of the pending enhancements could be included into the rewrite.

  16. 2005 Ballot Process It is up to the Trns•port Users Group to let the TTF know which enhancements are important to us. We do this by voting!!!!!!

  17. 2005 Ballot Process With the help of the TAGs and Info Tech, we have made changes to the ballot process based on alignment with NGT, Trns•port business areas and TTF directives.

  18. 2005 Ballot Process Summary of Changes The 2005 Ballot Categories have been realigned based on business functionality. In the past they were based on Trns•port modules.

  22. 2005 Ballot Process Summary of Changes The “Scope” column has been replaced by a “Complexity” column. Prior to the TUG, Info Tech assigned Complexity values based on anticipated business intricacy and NGT development aspects

  23. 2005 Ballot Process Summary of Changes We will no longer be using the <30% rule. In the past, items not receiving 30% of the vote over a two year period were dropped from the ballot.

  24. 2005 Ballot Process Summary of Changes All items submitted will remain on the ballot and be considered for the NGT product backlog unless removed by the reporting Agency or deemed obsolete.
