  4. SOER 2015Implementation phase(s) 2013 to 2014 The implementation of the SOER 2015 Project has started ... SOER 2015 is well on track!

SOER 2015Synthesis • Focus: A synthesis across different SOER 2015 parts to provide a strategic integrated and cross-thematic assessment • Progress: Prepared two stakeholder workshops, scheduled these for 9-10 Dec & 6-7 Feb (for 30 external participants, by invitation only) • Next steps: Host stakeholder workshop 9-10 Dec; prepare draft annotated outline of Synthesis in January (i.e. not December) • Next for Eionet: Management Board seminar on 25 March 2014, Scientific Committee and National Focal Points will also be invited

SOER 2015Part A – Global Megatrends • Focus: An updated assessment of global megatrends (GMT), i.e. focussing on the same issues presented in SOER 2010 • Progress: Published two ‘GMT updates‘ (GMT 5 ‘Continued economic growth?‘, GMT 6 ‘From a unipolar to multipolar world’) • Next steps: Continue publishing ‘GMT updates‘ during coming months, develop a four-page structure for GMT fiches by January • Next for Eionet: Feedback on ‘GMT updates‘ by NRC-FLIS will be taken into account in ‘GMT fiches‘ development A

SOER 2015Part B – Thematic SOE information • Focus: A series of brief summaries of state and trend in key environmental themes, guide through EEA knowledge base • Progress: Proposed a set of 24 draft topics for thematic fiches based on four guiding criteria set out in the SOER 2015 Implementation Plan • Next steps: Develop a four-page structure for thematic fichesbased on the final selection of topics in November 2013 • Next for Eionet: Feedback on topics (until 23 Oct 2014) B

SOER 2015Part C – Country level SOE information • Focus: (a) summaries of national state of environment reports (b) EEA indicator-based country comparisons for 8-10 themes • Progress: Proposed a set of 8 indicators for cross-country comparison fiches; developed a first draft guidance for country fiches • Next steps: Develop a four-page structure for cross-country comparison fiches (by November); finalise guidance document for country fiches (by December); decide on regional fiches (by December) • Next for Eionet: Feedback on template for country fiches, and feedback on indicator selection and method (until 30 Oct 2013) Cb Ca

SOER 2015SOER 2015 Online • Focus: An internet based representation of all SOER 2015components, allowing interconnectivity between parts • Progress: In-house discussion and development of a draft ‘Fiche Management System‘ to host all information on Part A, B & C • Next steps:Test of ‘Fiche Management System‘ and decide when and how to start using it in SOER 2015 (in December) • Next for Eionet: Continue Eionet input to SOE online with existing information flows; continue work towards SENSE-III SOER 2015 ONLINE

SOER 2015Summary of current Eionet involvement requested • (1) Written feedback on the topics proposed for ‘thematic fiches’ (Part B)  Based on NFP Document 6; by 23 October 2013 • (2) Written feedback on the topics, indicators and approach proposed for the ‘cross-country comparison fiches’ (Part C) •  Based on NFP Document 7; by 30 October 2013 • (3) Written comments on the proposed focal questions, draft template and guidance document for the ‘country fiches’ (Part C) • Based on NFP Document 7 - Annex; by 30 October 2013 • (4) Reserve 25 March 2014 for Management Board Seminar participation
