Structure of the Mirror Group • 2 June 2008, Brussels • The Terms of Reference were approved by the ExCo 29 January 2009 • ~16 active member states, • From ministries or energy agencies • Chairperson • Sweden; Susanna Widstrand, STEM • 3 Vice-Chairpersons • Spain; Marian Ferres, Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia • Netherlands; Imar Doornbos, Ministry of Economic Affairs • Germany; Joachim Nick-Leptin, BMU

  4. Mirror Group Terms of Reference-approved 29/1 2009 • Reformulated ToR; • Co-operation • Co-ordination • identifying knowledge gaps • strategy approaches • exchange of information • Communication with all stakeholders • Mirror group TPWind and EC • The non-EU member states can become members

  5. Some Tasks of the Mirror Group • The Mirror Group is the contact channel and sparring partner to TPWind and EC. The Mirror Group will work both in parallel and with the other working groups. • Collaborate with other Mirror Groups of different Technology Platforms. To save time and avoid duplication. • Ensure transparency on the ongoing actions and programmes at Member States level. • Update and inform on ongoing programmes and projects at EU level. • Provide opportunity to tailor national R&D activities to complement EU activities, and vice versa, and to develop synergies and reinforce basic research. • Create opportunity for Member States to co-ordinate and co-operate activities. • Be the information body between TPWind and Member States.

TPWind-Programme • Phase 1: Emergence and setting up: • Stakeholder were brought together • Phase 2: Definition of a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) a Market Deployment Strategy (MDS) • Finished July 2008 • Phase 3: Implementation of the SRA: • Document: Implementation Plan of the SRA/MDS, • Developed by the Secretariat on the basis of the results of the 3rd GA. • 45 projects; some are addressed to the Mirror group

Concrete measures for an efficient implementation of SRA & MDS actions Table 1:Co-ordination of R&D programmes moderator: Marian Ferre, vice-chairperson Table 2:Feasibility of implementing MDS policy recommendations on grid integration moderator: Imar Doornbos, vice-chairperson Table 3: Feasibility of implementing MDS policy recommendations on environmental issues moderator: Joachim Nick-Leptin, vice-chairperson

  8. Monitoring Tool • The aim of the tool is to monitor the current activities taking place at Member States level, for each issue identified by the TPWind SRA and MDS documents. • This tool is designed to provide a quick overview of potential synergies between the R&D programmes, and/or the priority areas not covered in Europe, and needing specific attention.

Next Steps • More contact with other Mirror groups. • Workshops (outcome- recommendations of actions). • Prepare a document on national Technology Platforms and a way of supporting such platforms in countries that don’t already haveone. • Implementation plan - Mirror Group. • Up-date the Monitoring tool. • Proposal of closer collaboration between Mirror Group and working groups at the General meetings. • Continuing the co-ordination of R&D programme. • Defining the role of the Mirror Group for grid issues.
