New Semester Launch: Engineering and Programming Challenges for Dragster Project

Welcome to the new semester! This week's focus is on designing, building, wiring, and programming both open and closed loop systems through the Dragster project. Students will engage in a step-by-step design process, from defining the problem to final programming. Important expectations include filling out planners, submitting assignments on time, and participating actively in group discussions. Teams will troubleshoot as they build their dragsters and respond to conclusion questions for reflection. Get ready for a week of learning and racing!

  5. Agenda 01/30 • Learning Target: Design, build, wire, and program both open and closed loop systems. • Fill out planner! • Continue building & programming dragster • Test & Modify…

  6. Agenda 01/31 • Learning Target: Design, build, wire, and program an open loop system. • Fill out planner! • Continue building & programming dragster • Test & Modify… • Final drawing of your dragster in your notebook. • Notebook Checklist

  7. Notebook Checklist • Design Process • Step 1: Define the problem • Step 2: Brainstorm • Step 3: Research • Step 4: Develop Ideas (Drawing) • Diagram of Cortex • Final Drawing of Dragster

  8. Agenda 2/1 RACE day! • Learning Target: Design, build, wire, and program open loop systems. • Upload your final program onto your Cortex • Print 1 Copy of your program to printer 4050 (Hankins), staple if needed, and give to Mrs. Davis

  9. CONCLUSION QUESTIONS • All Team Members: Answer the Conclusion Questions in complete sentencesfor the dragster project in your engineering notebook. Conclusion Questions: • Explain two difficulties that your team had to troubleshoot. • Describe two responsibilities that you held during this project. • What would your team do differently next time?

  10. Take a photo of your dragster • Upload to computer • Copy Photo into Word (4 or 5 times on one page) • Print the pictures, cut and tape into notebook.
