Pathos – Appeal to emotion • Focuses on getting your audience to feel the way you want them to about your claim. • Try to invoke sympathy, anger, humor, fear, or comfort. • “Imagine a lonely child sitting sadly at lunch without a friend in the world.”
Logos – Appeal to logic/reason • Focuses on convincing an audience using logic or reason. • “42.7% (made that up) of America’s children report being bullied, which lowers text scores, and leaves the American education system trailing other countries”.
