  4. Overall objective: Improvement and harmonisation of the higher education in the field of Animal Science at Masters level in 4 LA countries using internationally recognised standards. Specific objectives: Reform of Masters programs “Animal Science” at 4 Universities in three LA countries Design of new Masters programs “Animal Science” at 3 Universities in two LA countries (Re-) training of administrative and academic staff Development of teaching methodology (inter-active learning tools) Development of joint courses Upgrading and modernisation of equipment Strengthen inter-institutional cooperation at national and international levels Objectives

Phase 1: Project management • Project coordination • Joint coordination of all partners • 6 task forces are formed and each one is led by one person from LA • 5 meetings are foreseen • Meeting 1: UMSA, La Paz, Bolivia in month 1 • Meeting 2: UADY, Mérida, Mexico in month 10 • Meeting 3: UNCa, Catamarca, Argentina in month 18 • Meeting 4: UMSS, Cochabamba, Bolivia in month 25 • Meeting 5: UNALM, Lima, Peru in month 35 • Project controlling • Leader of task forces report on quarterly basis to project secretariat about progress of activities, financial status and possible unforeseen changes

Meeting 1: Identify training needs, develop selection criteria for out-going staff members At each meeting selection of candidates is done Language courses Each university holds at least 1 English course each year These courses are in-kind contributions of the partners Topics according to the needs of partners Output: 21 language courses given Phase 3: Training of staffTask force leader: N.N.   12. Who: teachers Goal: Training in new teaching methods, from teacher towards student centered, e-learning as a new tool introduced. Duration: 5 days Course 1: at URUZA, organised by Madrid in month 5 (20 persons from Mexico can attend ) Course 2: at UNALM, organised by Cordoba in month 9 (20 persons from Peru can attend) Course 3: at UMSA, organised by Madrid in month 13 (20 persons from Bolivia and 10 persons from Argentina can attend) Output: 70 teachers are trained. 1 focal point at each university identified Phase 3: Training of staff – Didactic courses

Who: researchers involved in (inter-)national research projects Goal: Training in project management for researchers Duration: 1 week For each course 1 staff member from each university can participate Courses organized by BOKU, course is given in English Course 1: at UADY in month 8 Course 2: at UNCa in month 19 Output: 14 staff members trained Phase 3: Training of staff – Project management courses

Who: persons who teach and are interested in e-learning Goal: to get familiar with e-learning tools, learn about software Duration: 10 days At each course 1 participant from each university Course 1: month 3 at BOKU Course 2: month 16 at BOKU Output: 14 staff members trained Phase 3: Training of staff – Internships for e-learning

Who: staff members who are involved in the curriculum development or administration of programs Goal: learn about admission standards, use of ECTS, organization of courses, work on the development of MSc program Duration: 3 weeks Internship 1: month 11: 3 persons at BOKU, 3 at UPM; 3 at UCO Internship 2: month 14: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO Internship 3: month 19: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO Output: 21 internships for administrative staff members Phase 3:Training of staff-Internships of Administrative staff

Who: teachers Goal: participate in lectures, development of new teaching material, get in contact with other researchers Duration: 4 weeks Internship 1: month 3: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO, 3 at BOKU Internship 2: month 9: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO Internship 3: month 12: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO Internship 4: month 20: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO, 3 at BOKU Internship 5: month 25: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO Internship 6: month 30: 3 persons at UPM, 3 at UCO Output: 42 internships for teachers Phase 3: Training of staff – Internships of teachers

  17. One teacher from each university starts to offer e-learning tools in their lectures. Output: 7 lectures using e-learning support tool are in place Phase 4: New teaching methods – establish e-learning toolsTask force leader: N.N., UMSA

  18. Laboratory course on molecular techniques hosted by UNALM, jointly organized with UMSA. Course 1 in year 1, Course 2 in year 3 These courses are open for students from all partners, each university can send 3 students each time Output: 42 students trained 2 on-line courses are developed and are offered to students of all partner universities Topic and persons to be identified! Phase 4: New teaching methods – Design of joint courses
