  2. American College Application Campaign A national effort to increase the number of first-generation and low-income students pursuing a college degree or other postsecondary credential. A local event to help high school seniors navigate the complex college admissions process and ensure they apply to at least one postsecondary institution. Funded by The Kresge Foundation, Lumina Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Bank of America Charitable Foundation. GocollegeNY.org/apply

  3. National Campaign In 2012, over 1,600 schools in 24 states and the District of Columbia, hosted a College Application Week. Nearly 130,000 students submitted more than 195,000 applications during College Application Campaign events. GocollegeNY.org/apply

  8. College Enrollment 38% of New Yorkers ages 18 – 24 are enrolled in college. One key to increasing economic growth is increasing the number of students enrolled in college.

Applying to College is Daunting! “Admissions requirements, and timelines in particular, are extremely complicated, and students often do not know or understand the importance of either until it is too late.” (Conley, 2009) The challenges include: • Financial misperceptions • Academic misperceptions • Confidence • Family issues • Career decisions GocollegeNY.org/apply

College Application Week An event that: • Focuses on first-generation students • Occurs in the fall (October – November) • Takes place during the school day • Requires collaboration (K-12/HE) • Utilizes existing networks and infrastructure • Includes many activities to builds a college going culture and ecourages the exploration of college options • Uses school personnel and volunteers to keep costs low GocollegeNY.org/apply
