  3. ASSURE Lesson Plan • A-Analyze Learners • S- State Objectives • S- Select instructional methods, media and material • U- Utilize media and materials • R- Require learner participation • E-Evaluate and Revise

  4. Analyze Learners • 4 classes: Drama I-IV • 9th-12th grade/ 14-19 year olds • Male and Female • Various socioeconomic backgrounds

  5. Analyze Learners • Diverse Ethnic Backgrounds • Caucasian: America, England • African American: America, Kenya • Asian: Vietnam • Hispanic: Uruguay, Argentina, Cuba, Peru

  6. Analyze Learners • Students with Special Needs • SLD, Specific Learning Disorder • ESL, English as a Second Language • ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder • OCD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder • Please review student’s files for lists of accommodations/modifications

  9. State Objectives Students in all four levels of Drama will rehearse chosen monologues first alone with recordings. In these “rehearsals” students will be assigned different techniques to incorporate each rehearsal period (35 minutes).

  10. State Objectives • Students will rehearse amongst assigned groups and both write and be given critiques for their performances. • Students will then record their final presentations for grading based on technique incorporation and acting ability.

State Objectives • High School Content • Lesson meets the following Performance Indicators • TH.K.C.2.1: Respond to a performance and share personal preferences about the performance. • TH.K.F.3.1: Exhibit age-appropriate dramatic play behaviors. • TH..K.S.2.1: Pretend to be a character from a given story • TH.K.S.3.2: Demonstrate use of the stage space using dramatic play • TH.1.C.2.2: Identify elements of an effective performance • TH.1.S.3.1: Use simple acting techniques to portray a person, place, action, or thing.

  15. Utilize Media and Materials • Preview materials • Students are given video recorders to use during class time and required to have audio recorders as per class syllabus.

  18. Require Learner Participation • Students are required to: • Memorize Monologue • Incorporate given techniques • Record using various technologies • Work with a group • Perform

  19. Require Learner Participation • Memorize Monologue • Students were assigned monologues to memorize the previous week.

  20. Require Learner Participation • Incorporate Given Techniques • Students will be assigned different techniques to incorporate into their memorized monologues

  21. Require Learner Participation • Record Using Audio • Per technique that is assigned students will record themselves using audio and submit the recording either via email or flash drive or tape.

  22. Require Learner Participation • Work with a Group • Students will work with previously assigned groups: performing given monologues in their most rehearsed form for their group mates. Group members are then to write a detailed critique of the performances of each group member.

  23. Require Learner Participation • Record using Video • Students will take the critique of their peers and use it to rehearse one last time before recording using a Video Camera their final performance.

  24. Evaluate and Revise • Assessment of learner achievement • Students will be graded on both group work and individual performance. Group work grade based off of personal critiques of performances. Individual grade based on both performances and use of technology
