Microsoft licensing at the University of California Select Plus MCCA Subscription licensing Subscription cycle is July 1 – June 30 Software Assurance is included CALs, Office, and Windows products are licensed by FTE faculty + staff counts Deploy the licensed software to all computers within the department Easy compliance • One-off license purchases • Perpetual licenses • Software Assurance is optional • Office and Windows products require that you license end points (devices) • CALs provide the option to license devices or users

Calculating FTE Employee Count Example Full-time faculty = 30 Part-time faculty (including TA’s)= 30 Full-time staff = 20 Part-time staff = 20 Total employees = 100 FTE Count Full-time faculty = 30 Part-time faculty = 30 ÷ 3 = 10 Full-time staff = 20 Part-time staff = 20 ÷ 2 = 10 FTE employees = 70 Full time faculty Part time faculty ÷ 3 Full time staff Part time staff ÷ 2 Total FTE faculty and staff
