The Basics • Demo beads, should incorporate multiple techniques • Base bead shape • Stringer control • Encasing • Talk through the steps when demonstrating • Visual aids are helpful • Draw the demo bead on a white board or paper • Make sure students feel comfortable • It’s helpful to demo the last bead from the beginning class • This is useful in gauging the class level

Challenges Less Advanced Student • Disruptive • Interrupt or talk over the teacher • Needs a lot of attention • Lack of confidence in their abilities Advanced Student • Disruptive • The “know” it all • Interrupt or talk over the teacher • Empower student to take what they learned and make it their own

  4. Recommendations • Start with introductions to gage students abilities • Be willing to modify your demonstrations to the level of the class • Start with a challenging bead for the advanced students, yet obtainable for those less advanced • Keep composure when repeatedly asked the same question • Reassure students everyone learns at a different pace • Practice, Practice, Practice…
