  4. Configure SCCP Gateway SCCP is a centralized controlled gateway registered to a Cisco Unified Call Manager. Call manager Configuration s Device> gateways> add new GW type is the router’s series. Protocol> SCCP Device Name= GiEth 0/1 MAC This is how the CM registers the router. Select Call Manager Group Select slot where FXS card is located> save. Select FXS/DID subunit>save. Configure FXS port. FSX Port: 0/3/0 slot/subunit/port Save> applyconfig> restart before you configure fxs port. Describe Device> Stanadard Analog> Select location> Select Region> Select security profile.

  7. Router Configuration SCCP GW Enables SCCP on CUCM and assigns a tag number. You can add redundant nodes.   9. Configuring FXS lines Select the FXS port on the router. Configure like you would any other phone. Make sure you select “Standard Analog” for common phone profile. Ensure you assign a directory number.

  11. MGCP Gateway • FXS lines are controlled through the Call Manager much like the SCCP gateway. • MGCP and SCCP gateway configurations are similar on the Call Manager end.

  12. Configure MGCP Gateway given the same topology. • Device> gateways> add new GW type is the router’s series. Protocol> MGCP • Device Name= hostname/domain Ex: 3800router.home.local Hostname=3800router Domain=home.local • Select slot where FXS card is located> save. Select FXS/DID subunit>save. Configure FXS port. FSX Port: 0/3/0 slot/subunit/port Save> apply config> restart before you configure fxs port. Describe Device> Stanadard Analog> Select location> Select Region> Select security profile.

Inbound call leg from routers perspective. #2 Outbound call leg; VOIP dial peer pointing to CUCM and voip phone number pattern. #3 Voip phone added on CUCM. #3 Outbound call leg; bypasses this gateway once inbound dial peer receives original dial peer destined for CUCM. #3 Voip phone added on CUCM.

H.323 GATEWAY H323 gateways do not rely on a Call Manager rather they provide they're own intelligence allowing features such as digit manipulation loop-start ring down, detailed dial plans, ect. Becoming familiar with the legging theory and the protocols that fall under H.323 will be useful when configuring and troubleshooting this gateway.
