Year 11 – Key Dates Term 1 Term 2 • Second Pre-public Examinations(Start in 21 Weeks - 10 February) • First Pre-public Examinations(Start in 7 Weeks – 11 November) • Sponsors Day: 14 November • Year 11 Subject Consultation Evening – 5 December Term 3 • Formal Examinations Start DateStart in 32 Weeks - 4 May 2020 • Leavers Assembly • Year 11 Prom

  6. Implications • Attendance - direct link between attendance and academic achievement • Students need to develop greater mastery of the subject • Need to make learning ‘stick’

  7. 17 days = 1 GCSE grade which is around 94% attendance. Last year as a year group, attendance was around 90%, which is 25 days and nearly 2 grades based on the research.

  8. Academic Productivity How do you use your time efficiently and effectively to make the most progress with your school work? Time: how much? Tasks: which activities work best?

Habits Of High Achieving Pupils • All describe a routine • Spend at least 2 hours each night revising • Work in blocks of time • Reading plays a part…somewhere • Don’t use social media whilst studying • Take advantage of the after school support being provided • Attend the holiday interventions • Complete homework and meet deadlines • Parents attend to a) practicalities and b) ‘smooth the way’

  11. How Can Parents/Carers Help? • Patience • Encourage & listen • Keep form tutor informed • Two hours independent study • Homework - please check that your child is using their planner and completing homework on time • Arrange medical and dental appointments outside of school time
