Developed in Spring 2010 by Matthew Bellman under the guidance of Dr. A. Antonio Arroyo and Dr. Eric M. Schwartz at the University of Florida, Smokey the Bot is an intelligent autonomous robot designed for fire safety. Equipped with advanced sensors, including a Maxbotix LV-EZ1 ultrasonic range finder and a Hamamatsu UV TRON R2868 flame detector, Smokey can detect, track, and extinguish flames. Its mobile platform features a 12V DC gear head motor and neoprene foam wheels, enabling efficient maneuverability while avoiding obstacles.
