  3. Star Ranking • 3 ½ Stars: I gave it 3 ½ because it was a neat experience working for a big time athletic program and was very flexible with me and my schedule, but was at times kind of boring and limited me to what I could do.

  4. Pictures Clockwise: At student worker desk, At Kyle Field, with the boss (Ryan), New work place, hard at work!

  5. Internship Objectives • Pay invoices with the procurement card. • Match up bank statement with each individual invoice. • Get approvals from the coaches/department heads for invoices that Ryan pays. • Run errands to General Services Complex to pick up checks for athletic department, or to get signatures from an accounting manager there. • Scan all procurement card statements as well as all vouchers Ryan does. • Open Mail for athletic department.

  6. Daily Activities • I would get to the office around 8:00am and start by reading any emails from the day before that came in after I leave around 5:00pm. Throughout the day I gather approvals and pay invoices until something comes up where I need to run an errand for the business office or need to sit up at the front desk for Olga. But I would basically be paying invoice 75% of the day and then occasionally be helping with errands the other 25% of the time.

  7. Project Description • My main project was to help knock out Ryan’s pile of invoices that needed to be paid. I would get the invoice in the mail, send it to the coach through interdepartmental mail or through email, to get it signed to be approved and then depending on what they would say, I would pay it. Sometimes it would be paid from by the 12th Man Foundation which was a completely different process that had to go through a few different people before finally having a check cut.

  8. Pointers • Dress in business attire. (No tie necessary) • Be on time. You would be surprised the amount of people that would constantly be late. • Be yourself but don’t start out being a goofball right off the bat. Nothing wrong with being witty and humorous in the workplace, but there is a time for that and it’s not the first week on the job. • Double and triple check your emails. When you’re sending emails to department heads asking them to approve something for a sport that doesn’t even apply to them, they might be a little upset because you didn’t do your due diligence. • Before you leave everyday, ask “is there anything else you need from me before I talk off for the day?” they will absolutely love you for that! • Good Luck!!
