  3. Internship Site Ranking Ranking this site three out of five stars was a hard decision. Working for Clint and Christina is a great job. Both individuals are very professional and want you to have the best expierence and learn the most that you can. The only reason that I am grading three stars is because of the opportunities of the internship over the summer. I feel like the fall would be the best time to have this internship due to it being football season and there would be plenty of game day activities. Unfortunately during the summer, there were not that many functions to participate in. I also feel that it became more of a facilities position and it had less to do with Sports then I originally thought.

  11. Words of Wisdom Always keep a positive attitude Ask Questions – this is the best way to learn! The internship experience is what YOU make of it, so always try to make it great Give 100% , even when it is tough Learn what you like, and what you don’t like – then build off your experiences for your next job Don’t be afraid to make suggestions or share your opinion with your supervisors

  12. Internship Objectives The objectives for this internship were as follows: Overall Objective: To understand an gain experience in the fields of Event Management and Facilities Management at the Zone Club at Kyle Field and the McFerrin Indoor Facilities Specific Objectives: • To coordinate and manage the Ladies Chalk Talk event • To create marketing brochures and flyers for the Zone Club and McFerrin Indoor Track facilities • To begin the process of preparing the Zone Club for the upcoming football season • To successfully complete all other duties as they are assigned

  13. Daily Activity Summary Things change fast at the Zone Club, but you can usually depend on doing some manual labor every day. The Zone and its staff have been referred to as the “bullpen” of the athletic department, so if your not setting up or tearing down an event in the Zone Club, your most likely helping another department – whether it be Basketball, Baseball, Football, etc. move equipment, furniture or whatever else. The role of the intern is to open and close the facility on a daily basis as well.

  14. Project Description For the project, I was able to run my own event through a client at the Zone Club. I managed the Ladies Chalk Talk reception on July 28th 2011. This event allowed the women of the Brazos Valley to come and learn more about the football program and the upcoming season. Mike Sherman – Head Football Coach – hosted the event and all of the proceeds raised from the evening went to support the Brazos Valley Breast Cancer Support Inc. My role was to work with the event contact and be able to provide everything she needed in order to make the event run as perfect and as smooth as possible. I oversaw all aspects of the event ranging from the pre-event meetings, planning sessions, set-up, management, and break-down.
