  1. Street Youth Job Action Generates Youth Employment Strategies in Vancouver • Created in 1996 • Provides mentoring and development opportunities for homeless youth • Teaches life skills • Punctuality • Teamwork • Work ethic

  2. Community Outreach: • Removed 14,473 syringes and paraphernalia from Vancouver’s downtown core • Painted 420 waste management bins • Employed 168 youth

  3. REDB staff members have attended regular meetings to help develop a plan to maintain this species of arctic char at Western Brook • Nordic assists with the implementation of public consultation and awareness via public meetings and its own website • The SOCC webpage can be found on Nordic’s website

  4. Outcomes: “SYJA really made a huge difference in my life. Having them on my resume is what allowed me to get off welfare. They gave me much more than a daily paycheque. I got more confidence in myself since they trusted me. Also I learned that responsibilities are not necessarily a bad thing!” - Graduate

  5. Funding: • 2007- $10,000 grant • 2008- $10,000 grant • 2011- $2,500 award
