Launched in 2000 by the Victorian State Government, the Youth Employment Scheme (YES) aims to provide significant employment opportunities for young Victorians. Over an eight-year span, YES offers 5,200 traineeships in public sector positions, helping young people achieve Year 12 qualifications and gain paid work experience. The program enhances employment prospects, supports career beginnings, and builds essential skills within the local labor market. By facilitating traineeships, apprenticeships, and additional training, YES plays a crucial role in fostering sustainable employment.
