  1. Welcome to Introduction to Electronics

  2. Course Outline • Unit 1 – Intro and Atomic Theory • Unit 2 – Current, Voltage and Resistance • Unit 3 – Ohm’s Law and the Power Formulae • Unit 4 – Circuit Analysis • Unit 5 – Magnetism, Inductors, Transformers and Capacitors Electronics 110

  3. What you need • All the equipment you need for this course is provided for you. • You need a binder for this course which will contain your notes and a duotang that will house your completed Assignments (roughly 30 assignments) • You also need to come prepared to work independently on work assigned from the text or other devices. • For most assignments you can work with others but copying another persons work is not permitted Electronics 110

  4. About Me • BBT 9 , BBT 10, Housing Interior Design • Education • Wiring and Electrical Electronics 110

  5. Why Understand Electronics? • Because it’s everywhere • Because you may have an interest in working with electronics • Because you may have an interest in how electrical devices work Electronics 110

  6. What is Electronics? Formal Definition: • Electronics is the branch of physics, engineering and technology dealing with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, and associated passive interconnection technologies. Simple Definition • Electronics involves the control of one electrical circuit by another Electronics 110

  7. Question: What is an electrical circuit? • An interconnection of components intended to do something useful Electronics 110

  8. What is your most recent electrical experience? Mine was a car lighting experience which proved very difficult but I learned a lot. Electronics 110

  9. To Do or not To Do Question: is it better to do something yourself when you have to spend hours learning it or just have someone else do it? Electronics 110

  10. Do you want to? I've installed aftermarket tail lights, headlights and fog lights and a touch screen media player on my car. I have one more thing to add…interior lights. I already have the kit, I just have to install them. Electronics 110

  11. Textbooks & Passwords • Textbooks should be left in the room unless you have work to do from home • Keep your passwords in a place you can find them and don’t lose them

  12. Icebreaker Time: Fact or Fiction Each person here is going to come up with 2 facts and one false statement about themselves. The person beside them is going to read the 3 statements and we will guess which one is false. Mr. Davis – Fact or Fiction I played football in High School (QB baby) I’m a dual citizen I used to have hair to my shoulders Electronics 110
