To see the student applications, please follow this link: • https://onlineapps.ictp.it/ENTER/SELECTION/login.mhtml?key=53616c7465645f5f3837363534333231631cb66d6535cedf • So far about202applications have been received • Registration is still open until March 31 • The online application system is very good • It collects all the student application materials (transcripts, CV, letter of recommendation, letter of motivation) • During the selection process, all you have to do is to go to that page, look at the material and rank the students • A big thanks to Petra and the ICTP for help • We will a selection committee towards the end of March • Student selection must be completed by end of April with the list of selected students • The number of selected students will dependent on our projection for the total available funds – we need to keep working on collecting more funds • Please let us know if you want to be in the selection committee

We’ve submitted an abstract for a talk at the 7th 2014 International Forum - Science for Society: Higher Education as builder of Hope • April 13-16, 2014 University of Stellenbosch, SA • http://www0.sun.ac.za/ac21/2014-international-forum.html • Jan Govaerts will be attending. He will give the presentation on ASP • We have prepared the slides and the text of the proceedings for Jan

  4. We have a lot of items of the agenda for ASP2014 that require active discussions and progress, and also involvement of the LOC • Is the accommodation reserved for 51 students? In Progress • What about the accommodation at the reduced rate in downtown Dakar for lecturers? • The shuttling of the students. Reservation of the university vehicles • Have we already chosen the catering service? YES • Who is working on the excursion? Julia • Who is working on banquet? We need LOC members • We need to discuss the agenda of the forum day • Do we have a plan for collecting the delegates at the airport, and for returning them to the airport? Yes

We need to put the agenda for lectures in Indicoand link it to the ASP website (people are starting to look for the agenda on the website and asking about it) • Any progress on this? • We should contact again the lecturers that have not yet responded • In case they cannot come, we need to find replacement. The earlier the better • Some invited lecturers are working to find funding for their transportation and accommodation – that is fine. We wait for their feedback. But we need to contact again the ones that have not responded yet at all

  6. What is the status of the funding request for the institutes that you are supposed to follow? • There are a lot of funding request pending, that is ok • But there are cases where we need concrete feedback, for example

  7. Julia has compiled a list of African universities and institutes, and sent the announcement of the ASP2014 across Africa everywhere • That is an excellent job, with positive responses • This contributes to increase the pool of students to select from
