The KIDS survey utilizes the VISTA 4m telescope and the OmegaCAM optical camera at the Paranal Observatory to explore 1500 sq. deg. in nine bands, enabling detailed galaxy-galaxy lensing studies and dark energy investigations. VISTA's InfraRed camera features 16.2k x 2k detectors with 0.35" pixels, while OmegaCAM employs 32.2k x 4k detectors with 0.21" pixels. The telescopes, with operational nodes dating back to 2008, leverage advanced active optics for superior imaging quality. Discoveries from these surveys contribute significantly to our understanding of the universe.
