  3. District Advisory Committee Charge Advise the Minnesota Department of Education on the release of a data collection system to assign unique identifiers to children enrolled in Early Childhood Family Education and School Readiness.

  4. Initial Activities • Assist in recruiting additional districts to balance representation on the committee. • Participate in state/local visits and recruit others who may be interested in local visits. A range of system sophistication is helpful to the process. • Provide detail on day to day operations in the districts on data management for SR/ECFE. • Coordinate with your MARSS Coordinator/Student Data Manager.

  5. Statewide Longitudinal Data System • Provide a privacy-protected environment for preschool through workforce information system to inform state policy. • Connected to existing P-20 Council, Early Learning Council • Builds into Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge Fund • Connections to the Minnesota Departments of Health and Human Services

  6. Brief Timeline 2011 – Develop data map 2012 – Winter – Meet with districts, refine expectations 2012 – Spring – Finalize process to submit information to MDE 2012 – Summer – Expand to additional districts, prepare and train 2012 – Fall – Evaluate pilot

Initial Feedback • English Language Learner registrations • How are these handled in your district? • Do they submit as part of the regular process? • Are they hand entered into a system or managed another way? • Data management across enrollment periods • What is the cycle for retaining student records in detail?
